Mitsubishi i MiEV Euro NCAP Crash Test Euro NCAP Crash Test With Electric Cars
Safety and respect for the environment can go hand in hand. It was proved that the European program evaluation vehicle, Euro NCAP, to conduct the first crash test of an electric car plug-in. The model evaluated was the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, which earned four stars (of five possible) the impact test. The index is equal to that achieved by similar Citroën C-Zero and Peugeot iOn, which follow the same design and have the same safety equipment.

The Mitsubishi I-MiEV was subjected to the same conditions that cars with internal combustion engines are. The difference is that after the hit was given to the integrity of the battery and the proper functioning of the system that cuts to isolate the battery’s voltage in case of accidents. No risk of fire or electrical damage was detected.

To ensure that the crash test is conducted safely, Euro NCAP has adopted preventive measures: a technical specialist in electrical components followed the entire procedure and extra measures to counter whatever possible flames were also adopted.
