Ford CEO Says U.S. Fails of Fiat 500

Alan Mulally, CEO Ford does not trust the success of the Fiat 500 car market in the United States. In an interview with Italian magazine Panorama, the executive said he did not see a market in the nation for a smaller car than the Fiesta and still cites the plummeting sales of the Smart Fortwo in the region, which was over 24,000 units in 2008 to just over 5,000 issues in 2010.
Mulally’s quote comes in the critical moment for Fiat, bet chips in good production of the Cinquecento in Mexico just to satisfy the U.S. consumer. By then, the compact Italian brand goes on sale this month for US$ 15,550.
This same factory Fiat in Poland also produces the second-generation European Ford Ka, which incidentally uses the same platform and other components of the modern Fiat 500.
