BMW Unveils Next-Generation 6 Series Coupe
The new generation of the 6 Series is already known in convertible version, which was the main also known as of BMW car during the Detroit Motor Show this year. The presentation version of the model in coupe, hardtop fixing stayed in April. Its launch is expected in two stages: Hall of New York, United States, and Hall of Beijing, China, the two scheduled for next month.
As the new Series Convertible, the 640i and 650i Coupe comes in versions. The first engine is 3.0 (six-cylinder) turbocharged 320 hp and 45.9 lb.-ft. of torque, which allows it to speed from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while gasoline consumption is 13 km/l. The next version is driven by the block 4.4 V8 turbo with 407 hp and 61.2 lb.-ft.. According to BMW, this configuration the 6 Series Coupe goes from a standstill to three digits of the speedometer in 4.9 seconds and runs 9.8 kilometers per liter of fuel. In the two options, the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h.
Both the 640i and 650i can be equipped with 6-speed manual gearbox or automatic transmission with 8 speeds. The model is also higher than in the past generation, measured 4.89 meters long and 1.89 m wide. Namely, it was 7.4 inches longer and 3.9 inches wider. With this, the cabinet, which takes four occupants, has more space, particularly by further increasing the wheelbase, now 2.85 m. Since the trunk takes 460 liters of luggage volume.
The look of the new 6 series, in general, follows the new esthetic standard for BMW, featuring LED headlamps and aggressive lines of the bonnet. Inside, the elegance of the finish sets the tone and level of electronic equipment. The car comes with air conditioning with digital two-zone air conditioning and a large monitor in the upper panel, where the driver accesses different functions. As an option, customers can still add to the vehicle audio system with 10 Bang & Olufen speakers.
The 640i version also comes with features to save fuel. According to BMW, the car has low resistance tires, stop-start system and ECO PRO amending the operation of various car parts such as engine speeds and operation of the exchange, to reduce consumption. With the launch of the Coupe will be missing only the M6 sports line to match the previous range. The German manufacturer, however, does not reveal whether the high-performance model will actually be released.
