Ford Focuses on electric and Hybrid cars

Ford Motor Company factories located at Detroit will seeks extra manpower of 170 jobs in the next two years as the engineer to make battery pack and gas-electric hybrid transmission system. According to Yahoo news, Ford Company will invest USD 135 million on 2012 at Michigan factories to focus on development the next generation of hybrid technology and electric vehicles.

USD 10 million of investment for develop the battery pack at Ypsilanti Ford factory that currently produce auto parts, and 40 new jobs will be useable at this factory. At this time, Delphi Corporation in Mexico is gathering the packs.

USD 125 of investment for continuous development of hybrid transmission system which currently establish by Japanese company. This technology will be reinforced in Sterling Heights transmission factory and 130 new jobs are required. Ford Company said that currently they receive complex hybrid transmission from Japanese supplier. So, the Detroit area will turn the future development of electric and hybrid auto technology, and extra 50 engineers will be hire.

President of Ford America Mark Fields said that further investment on electric vehicle depends on client acceptance. Ford Motor Company plans to lunch electric or hybrid car in the United State by 2012 and Europe area by 2013. The hybrid cars models are Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Ford Edge and sport utility car of Mercury Mariner.

Mark Fields also said that the good news is that Ford making investment in the driving technology innovation. Ford was capable to make jobs because cooperation with the United Auto Workers and in agreement to work together.

A fully electric small van for commercial purpose is planned for this year, and the other electric and hybrid type will coming in 2011 and 2012. Top selling of Ford Fusion hybrid sold 5,512 for the first four month of the year but the leading is Toyota’s Prius sold for 40,793.
