Nissan Motor Company Build R&D Center in Indonesia
Nissan Motor Company will establish a research and development center in Indonesia, next year 2011. R & D Center in Indonesia is the second Nissan research center in Southeast Asia after Thailand. To establish a research center in Indonesia, the Nissan Motor Company Limited (NML) issued an investment fund totaling US$ 20 million.
Chief Executive Officer (NML) Carlos Ghosn said that Indonesia is an important market for Nissan’s global sales. Statistics show there are 35 units of cars per 1000 population in Indonesia. Indonesia is a potential market, like China and India.
Investment of US$ 20 million will be used to increase the production capacity of PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) from 50,000 units / year to 100,000 units / year in 2013. The use of local components will also be increased to 60%.
