Toyota proclaimed a recall of 1.1 million Corolla and Matrix models, years 2005 to 2008, after more than a thousand complaints of sudden stop made by owners of such vehicles. All affected vehicles were produced in North America.

According to the Japanese company, problems in soldering the motor or electronic components used for protection against excessive voltage can be paralyzing the engine while the vehicle is driven. The automaker said in a statement it will review these mechanisms.

Overall Toyota recalls

With today’s announcement, Toyota has reached the mark of 12.3 million vehicles called for recall review programs since November 2009. Only in North America, 10.5 million vehicles are summoned. Most of the recalls occurred because of sudden quickening problems. Due to the Toyota Recalls, this week, the department of traffic safety in the United States (NHTSA) said it is upgrading its investigation into the Toyota Corolla.
