The European New Car Assessment (EuroNCAP), an organization dedicated to testing the safety of new cars, released the results of crash tests done with four vehicles: Honda CR-Z, Suzuki Swift, Citroen C4 and Hyundai ix35. The model of Hyundai earned the highest rating: five stars received by the high level of security.

EuroNCAP Testing Categories

The results show that manufacturers are moving in the EuroNCAP appraisal regime and continue to make security a priority. In the notes of the four questions in which the cars were evaluated, the ix35 has obtained the best: 90% commendation in the issue of adult protection, and 88% in kid protection, 54% with respect to pedestrian protection and assist of 71% in security (electronic system that helps in case of accident).

Three of the cars showed good protection against neck injuries in rear-end hit case. The Citroen C4 is the only one who did not make the classification, however, is the only device that has a speed limiter, the set-driver, enabling safer driving. Of the four cars tested, three of them have as standard electronic stability control. Only the Citroen C4 offers stability control as optional.

The Honda CR-Z is the only hybrid-electric among the tested. Attentive to the trends of launches of cars with this engine in the world, EuroNCAP has prepared to test this type of vehicle.
