Windows Technology For Cars brings Silverlight technology and voice commands

Microsoft has released Windows Technology For Cars called Windows Embedded Automotive System 7 for cars, allowing drivers to use various technology resources while driving. Manufacturers like Fiat, Ford, Kia and Nissan are already using the company’s software in their vehicles.

Among the features offered by Windows Automotive Embedded 7 is Silverlight technology, which allows driver to display graphics in 2D and 3D on touch screens and voice recognition technology “Tellme” which allows, for example, use commands and reply messages received in the text by voice.

The company used to publicise that the system will be in the 2011 Nissan Leaf, which has a touch screen that allows GPS navigation, location of gas stations, control the temperature inside the car and the engine intake.
