Euro NCAP evaluates crash tests the first Chinese car, Landwind CV9 received only two stars

EuroNCAP proclaimed on Wednesday the results of crash tests done with 14 new cars including the first Chinese model tested by the institute, the Landwind CV9, which received only two stars, the lowest result among those evaluated. Ten cars earned five stars, top rating, and three were left with four stars.

The Landwind CV9 has arrived on the European market in 2005 without much success. The manufacturer issued a statement saying he intends to return to the market with more strength and that has been renovated to meet the most stringent European safety standards. However, the EuroNCAP test result shows that the model has few safety equipment. The CV9 not have side airbags and electronic stability control.

According to Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP, cars made in China, India and other emerging countries will turn more usual in Europe. The institute wants to ensure that consumers know what levels of security are offered by these vehicles, “said Michiel. The Landwind and other automakers can overcome the challenge of adapting to the required standards.

Most cars had assessed the maximum score of five stars. Like the Audi A1 and the Kia Sportage, are among the well evaluated.

The highlight is the result of VW Amarok, which received four stars and was for a group of top rated. The Amarok was the truck that offered higher level of protection for pedestrians, but did not provide good quality protection for transporting adults and children. Tested only luxury car, the Jaguar XF also took and did not attain five stars. The model did not show good security guarantees for the two adults and children. The third vehicle that received four stars was the Nissan Micra.

In addition to the Audi A1 and the Kia Sportage, received five stars on the BMW Mini Countryman, and Ford C-MAX Ford C-MAX Grand, Venga Kia, Opel / Vauxhall Meriva, Seat Alhambra, VW Sharan and VW Passat.
