Chevrolet Omega Strikes Back
Chevrolet Omega is the Opal sedan’s successor, some other benchmark in its segment, came to Germany in 1992 and was manufactured for six years, a period of glory for the car, which has accumulated over 93,000 units sold and stigma drive of chairman and chief executive.
Despite the heavy competition, General Motors has not given up on selling their sedan and just launched a limited edition Omega Fittipaldi. In fact, the nickname is just to give some effect to the model, although it improved in some respects, maintains the same look of 2008 Chevrolet Omega, when the last significant change.
The main novelty is the Chevrolet Omega’s 3.6-liter V6 engine that now features direct fuel injection, called by the acronym GM SIDI. The power of 254 hp that was going to generate 292 hp and torque jumped from 35 to 36.7 lb.-ft. Thus, now the maximum speed is 235 mph, but would be higher if not for the limiter – formerly the Omega was no more than 229 km/h. Since the quickening from 0 to 100 km / h decreased from 8.1 seconds to 6.8 seconds. Fuel consumption has dropped, according to GM, but the automaker did not provide numbers.
Besides the engine stronger, Chevrolet Omega received two minor cosmetic changes that helped improve Cx, the coefficient of aerodynamic penetration, from 0.35 to 0.33. The first was made in the front bumper and the second by installing a tiny spoiler on the trunk lid. To differentiate it from the previous version, there is still the emblem “Fittipaldi” on the side of the body of Chevrolet Omega.
