Auto Car News Official: Lamborghini Aventador named Robb Report Car of the Year

The luxury vehicle aficionados at Robb Report have chosen the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 as their 2012 Car of the Year. This is the 19th time the magazine has proclaimed a COTY award, and whatever vehicle introduced in the previous year (in this case, that’d be 2011) is eligible.

The Lamborghini was one of a dozen vehicles singled out by Robb Report for consideration, and it managed to edge out such competitors as the Maserati GranTurismo MC, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster and Audi A7 (listed in the order they finished).

Robb Report praised the Lamborghini Aventador for the ease with which it allows drivers to entree its prodigious performance and for its technically sophisticated seven-speed gearbox. Two-thirds of the 100 voters chose the Aventador as their first-place pick, making it the runaway victor. Feel free to read the press release after the break.
