What would a superhero movie be without the fancy cars? Well, it would still be a superhero movie, we suppose, but we prefer the kind that has some flashy wheels. Like the upcoming Marvel flick The Avengers.
As you may have heard, Acura signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel to have its cars featured in a series of superhero movies, and indeed several already have. But for The Avengers, Acura had to work up something special enough to replace Tony Stark’s Audi R8. Since the old NSX was long out of production when they began shooting and the new one wasn’t ready yet, the Japanese automaker and the film studio put together something of a hybrid.
Not a hybrid as we tend to use the term in automotive spheres, but an amalgamation of the old NSX and the new one. They took a 1991 NSX and gave it a new roadster body to mimic the concept car that’s been making the rounds of the auto show circuit.
Our compatriots over at Inside Line got a behind-the-scenes look at the roadster, along with the kitted-out MDX crossover and a TL with a similar treatment. Scroll down to watch the video clips they put together, and the corresponding article here.

The Detroit Auto Show dam is busting and the latest news to trickle through is that Honda is bringing an Accord Coupe Concept to show off. The concept will “reveal the styling direction” of the 2013 Accord, which – by the time it goes on sale in the fall of 2012 – will enter its ninth generation and 36th year of bringing harmony to people the world over.
Honda suggests the production car itself will have a “dynamic and aggressive profile,” which is something we’d like to see – perhaps recent doldrums have lit some adventurous fires. We won’t put money on it just yet, but when paired with child brother Acura’s 2013 RDX and ILX and NSX concepts we expect the Honda playground to host some interesting toys. There’s a press release after the jump with a little more info.

Remember Honda’s nifty EV-N concept from the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show? Honda has updated it for 2011 in the form of this, the N Concept 4. Like the EV-N, this showcar harkens back to Honda’s original N series of minicars from the 1960s, typified by the N360.
The N Concept 4 was a surprise presentation from the automaker, and while Honda is not yet issuing further details around it, officials tell Autoblog that this car will go into production next year as the next model in its growing N series of Kei cars. The production version will undoubtedly be powered by a 660cc gasoline engine, though whether it will receive some sort of forced induction is an open question.
We love the car’s mix of rounded features as they disguise the overall form’s boxy proportions and we hope Honda can find a way of preserving the N4′s bright-eyed, friendly face when they make the inevitable switch to production lighting.
